A Bathroom You Use Every Day, Built To Last
Bathroom renovations are one of the smartest investments a Melbourne homeowner can make, and Parine Renovation has spent 26 years proving exactly that. Your bathroom is the first room you use each morning and the last one you use each night, so a cramped layout, tired tiling or a shower that drains poorly quietly affects the way your entire home feels.
We design and build bathrooms that work harder, look better and last far longer, combining thoughtful design with premium materials and workmanship backed by our seven-year workmanship warranty.
Why Melbourne Homeowners Renovate Their Bathrooms
Most homeowners come to us for one of three reasons. The first is age. Bathrooms built in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s were designed around very different expectations, with small shower recesses, bulky vanities, dated colour palettes and waterproofing systems that were never intended to last half a century.
The second is function. Families grow, needs change, and a bathroom that suited two people rarely suits four. The third is value. A well-executed bathroom renovation is consistently one of the highest-returning projects in the residential market, improving both the saleability and the everyday liveability of a property.
Whatever brings you to the idea, the underlying goal is usually the same. You want a room that feels calm, performs reliably and looks like it belongs in your home rather than sitting awkwardly against it. That is the brief we work to on every project.

Designed Around the Way You Live
We do not work from templates. A busy family bathroom shared by three children has almost nothing in common with a hotel-inspired ensuite for two adults, and treating them the same way produces compromised results in both. Our design process begins with questions about routine rather than questions about tiles. Who uses the room and when? Do you need a bath, or would a larger walk-in shower serve you better? Is storage the real problem, or is it the layout that creates the congestion?
From there we develop a layout that resolves the practical issues first, then build the aesthetic on top of a plan that already works. Wall-hung vanities to open up floor space in narrow rooms, niches recessed into shower walls instead of cluttered corner caddies, frameless glass to keep sightlines long, and floor-to-ceiling tiling to make modest rooms feel taller. These are small decisions individually, and collectively they are the difference between a bathroom that looks renovated and one that feels better to use.
Trusted Brands & Premium Materials
We partner with leading suppliers to ensure every renovation is built using high-quality, durable materials. These trusted brands help us deliver exceptional finishes designed to stand the test of time.

3D Design So You Can See It Before You Commit
Selecting finishes from small samples is one of the hardest parts of any renovation, which is why we produce 3D-rendered designs before construction begins. Seeing your tapware, tile layout, benchtop and cabinetry together at full scale removes most of the guesswork and gives you the confidence to make decisions quickly. It also means changes happen on screen, where they cost nothing, rather than on site, where they cost time and money.

The Work You Will Never See Matters Most
A beautiful bathroom that leaks is a failure, no matter how good the finishes are. Waterproofing, substrate preparation, correct falls to drainage points and properly executed plumbing and electrical rough-ins are the elements that determine whether your bathroom is still performing perfectly in fifteen years. Because these things are hidden behind tiles the moment they are complete, they are also where corners are most often cut in this industry.
This is where the gap between a properly built bathroom renovation and a cheap one becomes obvious over time. Parine Renovation uses registered building practitioners, licensed trades, compliant waterproofing systems and proven construction methods on every project, and we document the process as we go. Our workmanship warranty is not a marketing line. It is a reflection of confidence in how the work is built, from the membrane up.
Storage, Layout and Small Bathroom Solutions
Melbourne housing stock includes a great many small bathrooms, particularly in period homes, apartments and units across the inner suburbs. Small does not have to mean compromised. Custom cabinetry is the most effective tool at our disposal, because a made-to-measure vanity uses every spare millimetre where an off-the-shelf unit cannot. Shaving cabinets recessed into stud walls, drawer banks instead of cupboards, integrated laundry chutes and tall slimline storage towers in otherwise dead corners all add usable capacity without consuming visual space.
Layout changes can be equally transformative. Removing a rarely used bath to create a generous walk-in shower, relocating a doorway to free a full wall, or squaring off an awkward alcove often delivers more improvement than any finish selection. We assess these options openly, including the structural and plumbing implications, so you understand the cost and benefit of each before you decide.

Materials, Fixtures and Finishes
We work with trusted suppliers and reputable manufacturers because durability in a wet area is non-negotiable. Our usual specification includes porcelain and ceramic tiling in formats suited to the proportions of the room, natural stone or compliant solid-surface benchtops for vanities, moisture-resistant cabinetry with quality soft-close hardware, and designer tapware from brands with local warranty and spare-parts support. Heated towel rails, underfloor heating and properly sized exhaust ventilation are specified where they make sense for the room and the household.
Benchtop selection in bathrooms has changed since the national prohibition on engineered stone took effect in July 2024, so we now specify natural stone, porcelain, compliant low-silica or silica-free surfaces, or quality solid-surface materials, depending on your budget and the look you are after. Every option we recommend can be fabricated and installed safely under current requirements, and we will explain the trade-offs of each in terms of stain resistance, maintenance and cost rather than defaulting to the most expensive product on the shelf.
Premium does not have to mean extravagant. A significant part of our value lies in knowing where to invest and where to save. Spending well on tapware, waterproofing and cabinetry hardware while choosing intelligently on tile format and benchtop material regularly produces a bathroom that presents as far more expensive than it actually was.
Our Process, from First Call to Handover
Every project follows the same clear five-stage path. It begins with a free in-home consultation, where we look at the space, discuss your goals and talk openly about budget. We then measure the room in detail and prepare an itemised quotation so you know precisely what is included. Next come the 3D-rendered designs and final selections.
Construction and installation follow, managed by one team that coordinates every trade so you are never left chasing contractors. Finally we complete a walkthrough with you and hand over the finished bathroom with its seven-year workmanship warranty.
Most single-bathroom projects are completed in two to four weeks on site, depending on scope, structural changes and material lead times. We provide a schedule before work starts and keep you updated as it progresses, because the uncertainty is often more stressful than the disruption itself.

Living Through the Renovation
If your bathroom is the only one in the house, we plan around that. Sequencing trades tightly, containing dust with proper protection, keeping the site tidy at the end of each day and being clear about the days when water will be off all make a real difference to how the project feels from inside your home. Many of our clients tell us the communication mattered as much as the finished result.
Serving Melbourne and Surrounding Suburbs
We work across Melbourne and the surrounding suburbs, from St Kilda, Brighton and Elwood through the inner east and inner north, and out into the wider metropolitan area. Our office is at 398 St Kilda Road, St Kilda, and you are welcome to get in touch to talk through your project before committing to anything.

Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know before starting your project with Parine Renovation.
Can the toilet, shower or vanity be moved to a different position?
Usually yes, though the cost depends on what sits beneath the floor. Moving a vanity or shower is often straightforward because the waste and water lines have some flexibility. Relocating a toilet is the bigger job, since it needs a larger waste line with correct fall back to the sewer connection, and on a concrete slab that can mean cutting and re-laying. We investigate the existing service locations before quoting so any relocation is priced accurately rather than appearing later as a variation.
How do I know the waterproofing has been done correctly?
Compliant waterproofing follows AS 3740 and must be installed by a licensed applicator, with the membrane extending to the correct heights in the shower and across the floor, and with junctions, penetrations and floor wastes detailed properly. Because it is invisible once tiling starts, we photograph the membrane at every stage and provide documentation on handover. If a builder cannot show you that record, you have no way of verifying the most important part of the room.
Should I keep the bath or convert it into a walk-in shower?
It depends on the household and on how many bathrooms you have. If this is your only bathroom and you have young children, or you may sell within a few years, retaining one bath in the home is generally sensible. If the bath is rarely used and the room is tight, converting it into a generous walk-in shower almost always improves daily use and makes the space feel larger. We will give you a straight opinion rather than pushing whichever option is easier to build.
What makes a small bathroom feel bigger?
Layout first, then a handful of specific decisions. A wall-hung vanity that exposes floor beneath it, frameless glass instead of framed screens or curtains, tiling carried to the ceiling, recessed shower niches rather than protruding shelving, a linear floor waste allowing a single-direction fall, and consistent floor tiling running through the shower without a threshold. No one of these is dramatic on its own, but together they transform the sense of space without changing the footprint.
Are underfloor heating, heated towel rails and better ventilation worth including?
Ventilation is not optional. A properly sized and correctly ducted exhaust fan is what prevents mould, peeling paint and damaged joinery in a Melbourne bathroom, and we specify it on every project. Heated towel rails are inexpensive to install during a renovation and most clients consider them essential afterwards. Underfloor heating is a real comfort upgrade through winter and is far cheaper to include now than to retrofit, so we present the cost during design and let you decide.
